One thing about me is that I absolutely LOVE horror movies, especially ones that can keep me interested with a great plot and some occasional shocks and scares. The Soska Sisters deliver a high quality hit with their film American Mary, starring Katharine Isabelle (“Gingersnaps”, “Freddy vs. Jason”).
The plot of American Mary is as follows: “The allure of easy money sends Mary Mason, a medical student, into the world of underground surgeries which ends up leaving more marks on her than her so called ‘freakish’ clients.” (via IMDB).
If you get queasy when it comes to films with gore, this definitely isn’t a flick for you, but if being grossed out gets your adrenaline pumping, this is a film you shouldn’t pass up on. With great writing and acting, a killer performance (pun intended) from Tristan Risk, the intriguing topic of body modification, and somewhat of a surprise ending, “American Mary” has earned it’s place as one of my favorite horror movies to date.
