Submitted by: Sabrina Phillips - Massive teen popstar Justin Bieber has had a rocky year this year with one scandal after another and a breakup with his girlfriend of 3 years Selena Gomez. From every perspective other than his dedicated Beliebers, Justin Bieber seemed to be on a downward spiral. Then in October, Justin announced that he would be releasing a new song every Monday at midnight for 10 straight weeks starting the following Monday, October 7th.
The first single was revealed to be titled "Heartbreaker", a song that for several months Justin had tweeted about releasing to fans, who were begging for even just a snippet. After fake songs being leaked several times the song would finally be released. On October 7th the new single came out and after one listen not only Beliebers but music fans all over were in love. The track was completely different then the music Justin was still being associated with like his best selling song “Baby”. The lyrics were honest, Justin’s voice was seductive, and the beat was hard hitting. It was exactly the song Justin needed to start off the next 10 weeks with.
The next week he released “All That Matters”, my personal favorite. Produced by DK The Punisher, the song hosted the best beat out of any track Justin had released. The next week Justin showed us he was growing up with a song called “Hold Tight” a sexy R&B track. The following week Justin channeled a latin sound with “Recovery”. Returning to pop/R&B, November 4th he released a ballad titled “Bad Day”. The next week continuing with honest music he released “All Bad” a song about the hardships of fame. After two weeks of sad tracks Justin Bieber changed things up a bit giving us a provocative slow jam titled “PYD” on which he collaborated with the master of baby making music, R.Kelly.
On November 25th Justin Bieber took it old school with “Rollacoaster” a track that featured a disco beat and lyrics about the highs and lows of a relationship. The next week he slowed it a bit down again with “Change Me” where he pleads “be like serenity, help reposition my mind”. It’s now the final week of Music Mondays and Justin has released his last song of the 10 week stint “Confident” an upbeat song with a east side rap feel featuring “Chance the Rapper” in which he says it’s confidence that attracts him.
After 10 weeks of giving music fans everywhere something to look forward to on the dreaded Monday, the Music Monday’s have come to an end. No need to worry though you will not be without music from Justin for too long as he just announced the release of his new album titled “Journals”. The album will feature two people JB has collabed with previously, Big Sean and Lil' Wayne among other artists. Faithful to his Music Mondays concept, it will drop Monday, December 16th. Just in time to hide under the tree of thousands of Beliebers and new fans Christmas day.
