EP Review: Bridget Kelly - "Cut To... Bridget Kelly"

R&B songstress Bridget Kelly released her highly anticipated EP Cut To... Bridget Kelly to hold fans over until her debut album is released next year. The "Street Dreamin'" songbird continues to keep it real in her music, as she always has, and discusses the stages of relationships and feelings while enduring said stages.

Check out my brief track by track review below.

1.) Goosebumps - Listen, this track is everything; that's all that needs to be said. From the vocals and lyrics, to the production, I just love it. You can feel Bridget's emotion throughout the song and you'll catch yourself singing along after the second or third time listening.

2.) The Mouth - It all begins with the mouth. That's the point BK makes sure she gets across in this track. All it takes is one kiss (or one conversation) to completely change a situation, to change the relationship that two people have with each other. "Now I can't undo that one, that one; that one last kiss that set it off like a wildfire burning inside. I know it all begins with the mouth". Bridget sings. This track has a nice sultry feel to it and is bound to be another one that you'll be singing repeatedly after the first few listens.

3.) S#1t Happens - When you're in a relationship that you want to last, you tend to forgive the mistakes that your significant other makes. In Bridget's words, "Shit happens". One part that pretty much sums up this song is "Then along came the lies, followed by alibis; arguments led to fights, fights when through the night. But I stood by your side every single time, still willing to try 'cause I realize, shit happens". I can relate to this song and that may be what makes it one of my favorites on the EP.

4.) Friends - Ever had that friendship that slowly starts to turn into a relationship, but you know things won't be the same if it ends? "Friends" is the anthem for that situation. "If we cross that line that's how it begins; we're becoming lovers, no longer friends. Baby, we cannot start over again" BK croons. I'm sure some of you have been in this situation and for those of you that haven't, Bridget tells it like it is and gives you a visual of what that situation is like.

5.) Coca1n3 Heartbreak - Like cocaine, love is an addictive drug. BK shows off her lyrical prowess with the metaphors she uses throughout the vibe-acious (yes, I made that word up) track. "His cocaine love's got me losing my mind, yeah, and I'm addicted to his love affair" Bridget sings during the tracks chorus.

6.) Special Delivery - If you've been following Bridget's career for a little bit, you've probably already heard this gem. Special Delivery is a track about writing a letter to that special someone who isn't that special to you anymore. Relationships go through ups and downs, but sometimes you have to end things for yourself and Bridget vocalizes this point perfectly in "Special Delivery".

Overall rating: 9.4/10 - This is a VERY solid body of work and once you take a listen, it won't be hard to see why it ranked highly on my Top 10 Albums/EPs of 2013 list. If you haven't head over to iTunes and pick up Cut To... Bridget Kelly.
