As initially predicted, Lady Gaga's latest album
ARTPOP took the #1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. According to Nielsen Soundscan,
ARTPOP sold 258,000 copies in it's first week, giving Gaga the third largest sales week for a female artist. She falls right behind Miley Cyrus, who's #2 with 270,000 in her first week, and
Katy Perry, who's #1 with 286,000 copies sold in her first week.
“I’m so happy ARTPOP debuted #1 in the US and is already platinum in countries all over the world! thank u,” Gaga tweeted.
Gaga pushed rapper Eminem out of the top spot and his album
The Marshall Mathers LP 2 fell to #2 with 210,000 copies sold in it's second week.
