Ke$ha's Animals have been causing quite the uproar on social media regarding her perceived debt to producer Dr. Luke. Fans created a petition to try to help Ke$ha get out of her deal with Dr. Luke as they feel like she doesn't have enough creative control and isn't able to fully express herself musically.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Ke$ha confirmed that she's seen petition. “I feel like my fans are really protective of me,” she said. “They just want to see me grow as an artist, which I agree with. Hopefully in the future, I’ll be in a position where I can put out a ballad or a more vulnerable song.”
“What’s been put out as singles have just perpetuated a particular image that may or may not be entirely accurate,” she explained. “I’d like to show the world other sides of my personality. I don’t want to just continue putting out the same song and becoming a parody myself.”
Judging from the comment Ke$ha made, she isn't completely happy with the situation, and that's perfectly understandable. When you're an artist, your dream is to be able to express yourself in any way, shape or form that YOU see fit; having to make compromises because of label execs or producers can be annoying and disheartening.
Hopefully, Ke$ha's able to resolve this situation and be able to show everyone a different side of her both as a person and as an artist.
