JoJo Suing Blackground Records & Da Family Records

It's finally happening! Pop songstress & vocal powerhouse JoJo has taken legal action against Blackground Records and Da Family Records in an effort to get out of her contract.

According to the New York Daily News, JoJo has filed a lawsuit against both Da Family Records and Blackground Records claiming that under New York State Law, minors can't sign a contract that lasts more than seven years. JoJo, who is now 22, signed the contract in March of 2004 when she was 12 and says that her contract was up in March of 2011.

Due to this contract, JoJo hasn't been able to release a commercial album since her 2006 sophomore album The High Road. JoJo planned on releasing her third album last year, but Blackground lost their distribution deal with Interscope , never gave the album a release date, and stopped contacting JoJo altogether.

Although she's been going through all of this, JoJo hasn't stopped making music for the fans. She released a mixtape in 2010 entitled Can't Take That Away From Me and another mixtape just last year entitled Agápē.

Hopefully Jo can get out of this contract and get the success that she deserves. She's one of the few artists that has ALL of the components of a superstar and it's time her to be back on top.
